Efren Reyes won against Pepito Dancer in the finals of the Philippine Professional Pocket Billiards Championships 1983. In the 1980s, he went to the United States to compete internationally. Then he started winning several tournaments in Europe, the U.S., and Asia.
In the 1990s, Efren Reyes became one of the elite players in the Philippines. He was very popular after he became the first non-American to win the US Open Nine Ball Championship. He won the final match by 120-117 and was awarded the prize money of US$100,000.

Efren Reyes also won the WPA World Nine-ball Championship to be broadcasted on television. He won the International Billiard Tournament organized in Tokyo, Japan, in 2001.
The tournament consisted of 700 professional players, and prize money of ¥20M was awarded to the winner. The same year, he won the Mika Immonen to win the $50K winner-take-all International Challenge of Champions.
Efren Reyes became the first-ever WPA World Eight Ball Champion in 2004. He was also becoming the first player in WPA history to win world championships in two different disciplines.
He won against Mike “The Mouth” in 2005. He represented his country and won the inaugural World Cup of Pool the following year. He won his fifth title in the 12th annual Derby City Classic and became the most successful player in the tournament’s history in 2010.
