Felix Verdejo suffered his first loss on March 17, 2018, as a professional boxer after being stopped in round 10 against Antonio Lozada Jr. After that, he took eight months and returned to the ring in Puerto Rico against Mexican Yardley Armenta Cruz.

Felix’s second fight came after his first loss, against Bryan Vasquez, ranked No. 7 by the WBA at lightweight. Then he won the battle by a 10-round unanimous decision. Then his fight against Masayoshi Nakatani for the vacant WBO Inter-continental Lightweight title was on December 12, 2020.

He dominated the fight in the early stages knocking Nakatani once in the first round and again in the fourth round.  However, Nakatani knocked him down twice in the 9th round to win the title.
